In My Mailbox - New Books This Week (8)

In My Mailbox is a shared posting concept/listing from The Story Siren for YA book bloggers to share titles that have been arriving and will be showing up in reviews soon (read about what it is and how it got started here: In My Mailbox). This will be a semi-regular feature on Teach 8 YA Book Blog to let my students know the books to be looking for on the classroom library shelves and for others to know what reviews to anticipate.

I am so lucky to have gotten so many wonderful books at this year's ALAN Workshop! There are a lot this week(67!)-so bear with me (and forgive the lack of cover photos).  It's so exciting to have so many awesome books to talk about, review, and share! I described ALAN like the English teacher's version of Oprah's Favorite Things - and I'm sure you'll be able to see why based on this list of books I shipped home from Orlando.

Wow! Did ALAN give everyone those books, or did you buy them? I was at NCTE, but I didn't get to stay for ALAN :( Next year I will for sure!

Happy Reading :)

Sarah - The box of books is included with your ALAN registration fee! It's awesome!!! I get at least 35-40 books at each ALAN, and can wait in line to get them signed by any of the authors there if I want them signed. Find me next year and I'd be happy to show you the ropes; I'll be there for sure as it's close in Chicago!

Oh my gosh! When I sign up for NCTE (Friday-Saturday) will there be a box to sign up for ALAN as well? I've already asked my principal if I can stay for it next year! And I love the idea of meeting up :) It should be a lot of fun.

ALAN is one of the additional Workshops that you can add on right on the NCTE registration form. It's usually around $200 for the Monday and Tuesday (well worth it for all of the books and authors!) and a year's membership to ALAN is included as well. I don't think I'll be able to get approval for any days off for NCTE (had to use personal days for ALAN), but might try to get there for Saturday at least - it sounds like you had a great time there this year.
